Synopsis
Natuurkunde leraar Ned Brainard is een typisch voorbeeld van een verstrooide leraar. Hij staat op het punt zijn bruiloft, die notabene al twee keer is uitgesteld, te vergeten. Terwijl de gasten ongeduldig wachten, legt hij de laatste hand aan een nieuw experiment. een experiment dat -zoals gewoonlijk - verkeerd afloopt. Het laboratorium van de professor wordt totaal verwoest. Het enige dat heel blijft, is een vat dat in de lucht zweeft. Het vat bevat een vreemde deegachtige substantie die de naam "flubber" (vliegend rubber) krijgt. Flubber is in staat de zwaartekracht te overwinnen, hetgeen menige doldwaze situaties tot gevolg heeft, zoals een vliegende T-Ford of basketball spelers die hoger springen dan ooit te voren.
